Farewell cosmos

After being nagged by a few people, I finally cut down the last of my cosmos yesterday. I was sad...it was the first time I'd grown them from seed, and one little £2 packet of seeds must have produced hundreds and hundreds of flowers from midsummer right up until November.

I have way too many packets of seeds to grow next year (in addition to the ones I've bought or got left over from this year, I was kindly given some after I did some flowers for a funeral, because I'd used some of my own flowers).

So I won't have the space to grow cosmos again soon, but I'm sure I will another year. For now, below are a few of my favourite photos of my cosmos this year. Oh, and in flower language, cosmos means joy. No surprise there!

NB. This post is especially for Mike Rogers, who writes a lovely blog about his allotment, and who often co-hosts #Britishflowers hour on Monday nights from 8pm to 9pm. He is a big fan of cosmos, and who can blame him?

  2. Hello I'd thought that I had commented here a few days ago. Never mind!
A most enjoyable post, and lovely pictures.
Many thanks for the mention, it's much appreciated. I will also mention this post either later in the week or at the weekend in one of my posts. Mike/Flighty xx

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment, Mike - and sorry it took a few days to publish (illness + catching up on work + temperamental computer!). My October-sown flowers are looking promising, so although I won't have cosmos next year, hopefully there will be plenty of prettiness.
